SPRING 2015 FUNDING AWARDS AND APPEALS

The GSO General Assembly passed the group funding budget by a unanimous vote on January 14, 2015. Please see the allocations at the link. The Codebook tab describes all of the terms used in the document. Import information: Column B “Allocation” in the Group Summary tab or Column J “Allocation” in the Allocations tab indicates the amount that your group was awarded by group and by event, respectively.

Submitting an appeal: If you would like to appeal a decision for an event that received zero or partial funding, please send an email to GSOGeorgetown@gmail.com with the Event_Code (see Column C in the Allocations tab), the remaining amount you want to appeal (eg. if you received $20 for a $100 event, you can appeal for any amount up to $80) and a paragraph with clarifying information about the necessity of your appeal. These should be submitted by Monday 1/19 at 5 pm. We will review appeals with a quick turnaround time (around a week). If your appeal is not granted, you will still be awarded the amounts listed in the attached document.

A few notes:
  • This money may not be spent on events that have already taken place.
  • Funds from one event may be shifted for use in unfunded or less than fully funded events.
  • The GSO logo must be present on all advertising materials for funded events.
  • All open events must advertise their event to the entire graduate student population by submitting a blurb to GSOGeorgetown ‘at’ gmail ‘dot’ com or through the form available under the section below: “Group Event Advertising Form”
  • Groups should consider taking photos at events, keeping track of expenses carefully, and saving advertising materials for use in the group history section of the next club funding cycle and for transition of your group to new leadership (whenever that may be). Many groups choose to have a dedicated binder with these materials for future reference.
  • Please remember to use the Blueprint Rendering materials and your advisers at CSE, Amanda (Amanda.Carlton) and Ariel (ad1227), and GSO Director of Groups Kait (kwj66) as resources for putting on your event.

See the “GSO Groups” section for a list of groups eligible to apply for funding this semester, contingent upon attendance of both the President and Treasurer at one of the Blueprint trainings (scheduled for January 15 and January 20, 2015) if they have not met this requirement in Fall 2014. New GSO groups will be added to this list upon approval at the December GSO GA meeting, but they will also be required to attend Blueprint to meet eligibility requirements.

FALL 2014 FUNDING CYCLE

The GSO will be accepting applications for the Fall 2014 group funding cycle from August 26 through September 9. The group funding budget will be up for approval by the GSO Assembly at the September 24 Assembly meeting. All scheduled events must take place after budget approval.

In an attempt to streamline the funding process for groups, we will be piloting a new application this semester. Each group will submit a single application that outlines the set of events planned for the semester. Note: we will not be continuing Activity Request Documents (ARDs) or accepting Post-Event Reporting forms in the traditional sense at the end of the semester.

The below document includes the application instructions and a funding application template. This semester, the instructions and rules in the below instruction and application template will take precedence over the current club funding guidelines  (found on our Hoyalink page under Documents). Please read carefully, as all groups will be held to these rules.
